NEW porsche panamera GT

Porsche changed the SUV sports car landscape with its Cayenne and is going to try and do the same to the sports sedan sector, which is brand new territory for Porsche. Until the arrival of the 4 door Panamara GT, which will make it’s entrance at this year’s Geneva motor show in March, the marketing people at Porsche have been teasing us with this Panamara announcement. Rumor has it that one Panamara option will be a hybrid. Sharing components with the Cayenne hybrid prototype, the Panamara’s hybrid system will offer an average fuel economy of more than 31mpg! Their hybrid system includes a battery, the actual hybrid module (between the engine and transmission) houses an additional clutch and the electric motor, for more driving options.

The 2009 Porsche Panamara will have available V8 and V10 engines producing between 340 to 600 horsepower. Price range is expected at 100,000-150,000 Euros. (What’s that in Canadian dollars? Either way, it’s more than my house!)

I think Porsche is targeting competitors like Mercedes and their CLS500. When I take a few more peeks at the new 2009 Porsche Panamara, I can clearly see that they will succeed!
